Facebook LED Research Scientist, Modeling in Cork, Ireland

Summary:

Oculus Research, the research division of Oculus (Facebook), is currently seeking an experienced LED technology research scientist. The role involves undertaking in-house research and working with our partners to support the development of small and efficient LED devices. Specific emphasis on LED modeling and epitaxial growth would be a major advantage. The job is particularly suited to an individual who wishes to further develop their career in a vibrant, multidisciplinary and fast-moving research environment.   Both positions are full-time positions based in our Cork office, Ireland.

Required Skills:

  1. Provide expertise all the way through engineering phases of LEDs (wafer/epitaxial, device design, fabrication process) including the device physics, simulation and testing for red, green and blue LEDs (or Lasers)

  2. Fabrication of semiconductor-based devices in a clean room environment

  3. Process development & optimization, process troubleshooting

  4. Delivery of devices for the needs of internal and external projects

  5. Documentation and control responsibility for all processes and procedures related to the position

  6. Designing DOEs, analyzing the data and reporting the key results during meetings

  7. Promote and support innovation to facilitate IP generation as appropriate

  8. Interface with suppliers and partners, from a technical and project management perspective

Minimum Qualifications:

  1. Bachelor’s degree or higher in Micro-electronics, Physics or Material Science

  2. 5+ years’ experience in III-V semiconductor (GaN/GaAs) processing

  3. Expertise in Micro and nano-fabrication of optoelectronic devices such as red, green and blue LEDs and lasers

  4. Strong background in semiconductor physics & materials science

  5. Broad expertise in material & device characterization

  6. Hands on approach to device fabrication
