Our data centers are the foundation upon which our rapidly scaling infrastructure efficiently operates to deliver our innovative services. Facebook is seeking a highly experienced and self-motivated energy professional to join our Energy Team. The Energy Infrastructure Manager will lead the design, development, and implementation of optimal grid interconnection arrangements and other energy infrastructure projects. The Energy Infrastructure Manager will collaborate with internal and external subject matter experts to provide the electricity supply reliability required of our growing fleet of data centers. The Energy Infrastructure Manager will also support the continued development and execution of Facebook’s global renewable energy strategy to create a cost competitive clean and renewable energy based supply portfolio. This position is full-time and targeted to be located in our Dublin office.
Lead the design, development, and implementation of optimal grid interconnection arrangements and other energy infrastructure projects to support Facebook’s new and existing data centers
Support contract negotiation and strategy
Collaborate with teams and subject matter experts throughout the project life cycle including site development, strategic engineering and design, permitting, construction, commercial, legal, policy, and operations
Develop and maintain relationships with transmission system operators and other industry stakeholders
Advise internal and external stakeholders regarding transmission system planning and related policy and share knowledge and leverage best practices across regions
Take an active role in select regulatory processes to improve interconnection processes and support increased use of clean and renewable energy solutions.
Support continued development and execution of the energy supply strategy for Facebook’s international data centers
Identify opportunities to improve the reliability, reduce the environmental footprint, and reduce the cost of our energy supply portfolio and ensure alignment with the company’s strategic objectives
Stay informed of the technical, market, and regulatory developments in the energy industry and communicate key trends, risks and potential impacts to management
Lead and support various energy projects as needed
Bachelor's degree in engineering required
Master’s degree in Electrical Engineering highly desirable
Significant (10+ years) prior experience in optimizing, developing, and implementing transmission and distribution solutions
Expert knowledge of and direct experience with managing utility interconnection processes and effectively collaborating with all stakeholders to achieve new grid connection solutions on an accelerated schedule
Experience with clean and renewable energy solutions and project development
Seasoned professional that is comfortable, experienced, and astute at representing business interests to the senior leadership of potential suppliers, utilities, governments, regulatory agencies, and other stakeholders
Ability to manage multiple projects and coordinate with internal staff, utility providers, consultants, and external stakeholders
Strong analytical, creative thinking, written, and verbal communications skills with proven ability to effectively distill and communicate complex technical, commercial, regulatory, and contractual details to all organizational levels
Ability to travel domestically and internationally as needed (25% to 50% at times)
