You will be part of a cross-functional team, using Agile methodologies to deliver new requirements and improvements to our digital document management system, AeroDocs. AeroDocs assists our customers to author and deliver documents to all their staff, from ground staff through to flight crews. Your work will focus on integrating our system with existing document management solutions by building transformation components that will allow us to cross-convert common generic formats such as Word, ODT and PDF and structured formats such as docbook, DITA or S1000D. You'll have the opportunity to drive decisions and to contribute to a product beginning to gain significant traction in an exciting industry.

Experience of XML transformation and processing techniques, and exposure to associated toolsets and protocols such as XSLT, XProc, SAX, DOM, JAXP, Apache Camel, Apache NiFi etc. will be useful.

Familiarity with document modelling and schema development will also be advantageous

Key responsibilities are:

Our transformation pipelines are designed are built using Apache Nifi which chains reusable steps to transform documents to and from our native XML format to various document structures used by our customers. Your key responsibilities will include

  • Maintaining existing conversion pipelines.

  • Ensuring we gain maximum reuse from each conversion step.

  • Adding new document type conversions and customer specific customizations.

  • Consulting with customers to identify their needs and suggest improvements to their document structures.

  • Inputting to feature requests to the development team.

  • Suggesting improvements to our internal format to improve maintainability and ease integrations.



  • A degree in Computer Science, Software Engineering or related field or equivalent practical hands on experience

  • 5 years professional experience in a related job using an Agile software lifecycle including TDD, pair programming, short release cycles

  • Experience with at least one automation focused scripting language

  • Expert knowledge of Java, OO, unit testing, enterprise design patterns
