The LinkedIn Content Understanding team leverages large volumes of data and state-of-the-art machine learning techniques to understand what our 450+ million members read and write about on linkedin. .  We blend expertise in deep learning, natural language processing, software engineering, evaluation and human judgment to develop and deploy topic extraction, document classification, named entity recognition, entity linking and information extraction technologies at scale.  Our work impacts on the LinkedIn feed experience, personalized content recommendation, ads relevance and more.

As manager for the Linguistic Data and Annotation Team within Content Understanding Engineering, you and your team are responsible for the methodologies, resources and data used to evaluate and train our technologies. You will participate in key technical and design discussions with software engineers, machine learning / natural language processing engineers and product managers, and you will set team goals that align with product and engineering needs.  

Responsibilities: •Recruit, hire, train and manage a team of linguistic data and annotation experts. •Set team goals that align with product and engineering needs, and drive execution. •Design and implement NLP annotation and evaluation projects, managing project timelines and deliverables. •Design annotation schemas, set annotation decision-making criteria and develop annotation guidelines.   Implement quality review processes. • Configure tools, administer annotation projects and manipulate data.

Basic Qualifications: •2+ years experience leading a technical or analytical team as a people manager. •Experience in recruiting, hiring, training and managing language and linguistics experts, domain knowledge experts or analytical experts. •Experience with large-scale collection of human judgments (e. . crowdsourcing, content policy reviewing, spam detection). •BA/BS degree in a technical or analytical discipline.
Preferred Qualifications: •Advanced degree in Computational Linguistics, Natural Language Processing or related discipline. •Vendor and/or contingent workforce management experience. •Strong analytical, problem-solving and critical-thinking skills, with the ability to maximize the impact of your team in a fast-moving environment. •Excellent written and verbal communication skills, drive and discipline to get things done. •Basic capabilities in a programming or scripting language. •Experience with experimental design, research methodologies, qualitative and quantitative analysis. •Experience with product-focused natural language processing or machine learning technologies in an industrial setting.
