In Ireland, Abbott employs almost 3,000 people across 10 sites. Abbott has six manufacturing facilities located in Clonmel, Cootehill, Donegal, Longford and Sligo and a third party manufacturing management operation in Sligo. It has commercial and support operations and shared services in Dublin. Abbott serves the Irish market with a diverse range of health care products including diagnostics, medical devices, nutritionals and branded generic pharmaceuticals. Abbott Established Pharmaceuticals Division – Dublin

Abbott Mature Products Management Ltd./Established Pharmaceuticals Division in North Dublin supports the growth of Abbott’s mature pharmaceutical brands globally. Strategic Medical Affairs, Marketing, Quality Assurance, Business Development, Purchasing and Regulatory Affairs at EPD Dublin support Abbott affiliates in both developed and emerging markets.

The role can be based in Ireland but there is also a possibility for it to be based in our Global Headquarters in Abbott Park Chicago, United States.

We currently have a vacancy for a Global Quality IT Systems Manager and this position will include the following:

Primary Job Function

The Senior Manager Global Quality IT systems has global responsibility for the Established Pharmaceutical Division Informational Technology (IT) Systems that drive key quality processes, to ensure safe, efficacious and quality products can be supplied in accordance to regulatory and business requirements. The role will provide strategic and functional leadership in support of Global Quality IT Systems’ tactical objectives and long range goals. Ensure the development and implementation of efficient, effective, and compliant global processes, procedures, and systems that incorporate best practices and risk mitigation strategies. Provide centralized IT system expertise and services to customers.

Core Job Responsibilities

  • Provide leadership in the development of quality improvement strategies and tactics, drive opportunities, standardize, and optimize quality IT Systems across the global organization.

  • Represents EPD on Corporate IT initiatives linking business process knowledge with knowledge of the IT system

  • Responsible for EPD QA approval for all IT related documents and projects plans.

  • Leads IT system rollouts, including training support and development of appropriate documentation and training materials.

  • Conduct over time, internal evaluations of the effectiveness, efficiency and adequacy of the IT Systems and procedures, and define further actions when necessary to improve compliance and/or the business process.

  • Support Quality IT systems for all global operations and EPD divisional quality systems.

  • Maintain an excellent understanding of actual and future regulatory expectations and provide support for transition into the EPD relevant IT Quality systems of the region and sites.

  • Participate on QA cross-functional teams as necessary.

Minimum Education

Bachelor’s Degree in Science or Information Technology or equivalent.

Minimum Experience/ Knowledge Required

  • 10 years in a Quality-related position in the pharmaceutical industry

  • Knowledge of relevant regulations for quality systems and compliance.

  • Knowledge of pharmaceutical manufacturing and quality system processes

  • Capable of analysing data in order to support the development of strategies to effectively manage the action plans that will resolve the issues.

  • Strong analytical skills and the ability to organize work in a logical, thorough and succinct manner.

  • Strong leadership skills, along with, strong financial acumen in order to translate EPD Business requirements into financial terms.

  • Extensive knowledge of worldwide IT systems and regulatory requirements and industry best practices.

  • Flexibility to adapt to changing assignments and ability to effectively prioritize.
