Shire International Supply Planner in Dublin, Ireland

The Supply Planner’s responsibility will cover on-time-supply, inventory strategy, vendor management, cost and all other end-to-end supply chain related activities to ensure compliant product is available to the market in time.

The Supply Planner / CMO Operations Analyst will create an accurate end to end Materials Requirements Plan (MRP) for their assigned group of products within Shire. This includes all related supply chain activities including all SAP planning parameters and data maintenance to allow timely and accurate generation of Purchase Orders and forecasts for the Shire’s Contract Manufacturers (CMOs). In addition, the planner is responsible for processing all relevant transactions within Shire’s ERP systems: the Supply Plan, PO creation with selection of components, Goods Receipts, stock transfers etc. The Supply Planner / CMO Operations Analystwill also be responsible or will participate in cross-functional efforts to resolve any product supply issues.

The Supply Planner / CMO Operations Analystwill manage change controls in Shire’s Quality Management System to ensure the compliant product is made available to the market. At a minimum, this will encompass regulatory requirements that differ across markets and the management of artwork changes as it related to inventory management.

Essential Functions Responsibilities

35% - Create & Execute Finished Drug Product supply plans

The Supply Planner / CMO Operations Analyst is responsible for ensuring that the planning cycle is adhered to on a pre-determined basis. Generates the Supply Plan for each Finished Drug Product Stock Keeping Unit (SKU).

Creates orders in ERP systems to trigger CMO packaging scheduling, in line with communicated supply plans.

Ensures the demand plans/S&OP forecasts are processed into the ERP system monthly.

Develops and distributes forecasts/vendor schedules and purchase orders to contract manufacturers at designated lead time.Participates in weekly Operations Meeting to review product performance.

Ensures ERP system planning parameters and master data are maintained to enable accurate supply plans to be generated.Reviews and troubleshoots data exchange issues (e.g. SAP idocs) when system interface is in place with CMOs. Participates in monthly S&OP meetings as required to review SKU performance: sales, forecast, issues etc.

Monitors forecast accuracy by SKU on a monthly basis and work to highlight & proactively resolve major deviations that might impact supply.Ensures supply has been processed to enable demand to be met in line with planning procedures.

Calculates inventory write off provisions. Changes to the inventory stock obsolescence potential identified.

Monitors the inventory status of the finished product and takes corrective actions to minimize slow moving inventory.

Communicates product receipt plans to Quality Assurance and work with them to ensure adequate supply of products.

Process Improvement: Evaluates and changes process to enhance supply chain performance.

25% - Managing supply to meet market requirements

The Supply Planner / CMO Operations Analyst follows up on day-to-day product releases and checks availability of finished product against country replenishment needs.

Is the Planning point of contact to support launches for new product, new markets or both.

Reports up-to-date supply plans to Customer Service and the relevant S&OP teams.

Issues and updates periodically (e.g. weekly) pipeline reports according to specific country needs.

Is the main contact for all supply inquiries by Customer Service and the relevant S&OP teams

Works in close cooperation with Customer Service and S&OP teams to understand market needs and strategies, and aligns the individual country supply to support the sales forecast.

All deviations from the agreed plans caused by operational issues or market are discussed and concluded.

Co-ordinates the dialogue with supply operations, quality and customer service and S&OP teams to resolve bottlenecks in supply. The Analyst identifies corrective actions and follows up on execution.

20% - Manage and measure CMOs to adhere to the plan

The Supply Planner / CMO Operations Analyst manages the day-to-day relationships with Shire’s CMOs to ensure adequate product supply to meet inventory strategies.

Manages the end-to-end integrated supply chain between the contract manufacturers, the distribution center and the Local Operating Companies

Compiles Vendor performance KPIs and share with external suppliers and internal stakeholders.

Responsible to verify and approve invoices provided by suppliers and CMOs.

Manages any indirect POs to external suppliers as required.

Inventory reconciliation: ensure all stock discrepancies between Shire’s ERP system and the CMO’s system are followed up, fixed and recorded.

• 20% - Manage Artwork and Regulatory related Change Controls (Legacy Shire only)

Manages Artwork Implementation Change controls to ensure compliant change of Artwork components.

Manage project-related Change controls to ensure compliant supply of product to global markets.

Participates and supports projects that will change the source for Finished Drug Product and understands the specific market requirements to support these changes.

Education & Experience Requirements

Include educational requirements or equivalency, required years and type(s) of experience, and necessary licenses or certificates. Specify which are required and which are preferred. For UK, please do not use years of experience due to UK Legislation.

Essential: Minimum:

• Degree in Business, Engineering or Operations Management, or equivalent

• 3 – 5+ years experience in various and growing supply chain roles

• 3 - 5 + years experience in ERP/MRP systems and tools implementations

o SAP R/3 experience

o APO Supplier Network Planner

o Collaboration


• Being able to demonstrate playing a major role in a large system implementation

• Lean and or Six Sigma Certification (Black or Green Belt) background preferable

• APICS certified – Certified in Production and Inventory Management preferable
