Job Summary

We are currently recruiting for an Associate Director with a Mechanical Engineering background to lead our Building Services team in our Dublin Office, Ireland.

The office is a multidisciplinary office with staff covering Building Engineering, Project Management, Quantity Surveying, Transportation, Water, Energy & Environmental consultancy. The Building Engineering team has a large team of engineers whose projects cover high profile mission critical, commercial, education, health, industrial and residential projects across Ireland and abroad. A large proportion of our projects are in excess of €35 million construction value.

The Associate Director will lead a growing Building Services team in Dublin, where we have many high profile clients and some of the largest projects across Ireland. The successful candidate will be involved in all aspects of managing a busy engineering team to continue to build on its successes and growth. The successful candidate will be a Chartered Engineer with extensive design experience and have proven experience in managing an engineering team while delivering to quality, time and budget. This role will suit someone with a mechanical engineering / building services degree, who is enthusiastic, self-motivated, and looking to advance their career.

Minimum Requirements

  • Provide technical oversight / strategic guidance / audit & review to a portfolio of projects being completed within the team.

  • Provide continuous improvement and development across the engineering team.

  • Identify opportunities and ‘Win’ new clients and projects through strong business development skills.

  • Prepare fee proposals for submission to clients, including resources and programme.

  • Be responsible for all aspects of commercial delivery including cash flow and resource management / projection.

  • Undertake line manager responsibility for a mechanical engineering team including mentoring and development of staff.

  • Act as client liaison and mechanical engineering technical lead.

  • Perform project contract reviews.

  • Define engineering strategies and procedures in conjunction with other AECOM offices across the UK and Ireland.

Undertake project reviews and checking in accordance with QA procedures.

​Skills and Experience

  • Experience leading and managing a team of engineers and technicians through all aspects of project delivery.

  • Extensive experience in Client facing and Client management roles with the ability to maintain and develop relationships with Clients.

  • Strong business development skills with the ability to identify and pursue new opportunities.

  • Extensive experience in Mechanical Engineering design across all stages of the project from conceptual design through to completion. A track record of having worked on a variety of Building Services designs covering for example, Mission Critical, Commercial, Healthcare and Residential projects.

  • A highly motivated individual with excellent written & verbal communication skills with the ability to inspire, influence and negotiate.

  • Strong leadership and motivation skills.

  • Ability to make decisions, act on own initiative and operate in a pro-active way.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Mechanical engineering / building services degree.

  • Chartered Engineer and a member of a professional institution or close to achieving professional chartered status.
