Student Placement Engineer


Infrastructure & Quality Engineering

This is suitable for students considering a technical role in a software development organisation.

There are a number of roles in different teams.

Release Engineering

Key Tasks include, but are not limited to, the following:

  • Processing & problem solving relating all technical Oracle translation operations

  • Use methodical approach to identify and track down problems to resolution, while learning Oracle technical process’s

  • Development to improve or automate procedures

  • Become familiar with Oracle software tools, internal scripts and code

Tools Development

Key Tasks include, but are not limited to, the following:

  • Triaging and fixing bugs reported against Translation Tools products

  • Design and development of Translation Tools product features

  • Using technologies including: XML, Java J2EE, C and Java Script

  • Management and improvement of the continuous deployment framework

  • Using continuous deployment technologies including: Jenkins, Sonarcube & Docker

Process Engineering

Key Tasks & knowledge include, but are not limited to, the following:

  • Supporting the translation automation workflow (grid) in Linux and Windows environment

  • Writing automation process using programming scripts / langs - Perl, Shell, Java and SQL

  • Triaging bugs logged against tools and processes owned and operated by the team.

  • Web based application development using Oracle Apex, Database, JavaScript

  • Knowledge : Linux / Unix is important

  • Knowledge : Java and SQL is very advantageous

  • Understanding of any database technology is useful

Tools QA

Key Tasks include, but are not limited to, the following:

  • Quality Assurance (QA) of translation tools products

  • Understanding the agile development life cycle

  • Creating test plans based on user stories and enhancements

  • Executing manual and automated tests (using various tools or scripts - eg Python, Selenium)

  • Identifying bugs and issues on assigned projects.

Working closely with Developers to assist in resolution of defects.

Qualifications / Experience:

At least two years completed of a third level qualification (Degree) in Computer Science/Applications or related science or engineering discipline

Knowledge/Experience in these areas would be an added advantage
