THE OPPORTUNITY : DATA ENGINEER, EMEA DEVELOPMENT CENTRE

The Johnson and Johnson, EMEA Development Centre, are currently seeking an experienced Data Engineer to join our team. We develop, design and deliver high quality business applications, software solutions and services to meet J&J business technology requirements. The offices are newly designed, specifically to accommodate Agile development and are based on the University of Limerick Campus. It is an open and highly collaborative environment based on LEAN principles with a strong emphasis on continuous integration, automated testing and continuous delivery. Scrum teams are encouraged to be self-organising and autonomous.

RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Work with colleagues and stakeholders to deliver software design, architecture, requirements analysis, investigation of new technologies, and software development.

  • Collaborate as a member of an agile team to get products developed and completed with best in class software development.

  • Working closely with business and IT teams to define the end to end solution for large scale data and analytics solutions.

  • Executing analysis, design and development of enterprise data and analytics use cases and their solutions.

  • Mentoring team members on best practices and best use of technologies.

REQUIREMENTS:

  • Minimum 5 years experience with at least 3+ years experience delivering data-driven solutions for clients/stakeholders.

  • Experience extracting, transforming, visualizing and analyzing structured and unstructured data.

  • Experience implementing data pipelines using Hadoop and/or AWS for analytics strongly preferred.

  • Strong experience in the use of ETL and Visualisation tools such as Talend, Informatica, Pentaho, Qlik/Qlik Sense, Tableau, etc. for data sourcing, discovery and analytics

  • Experience with Data Modelling, SQL

  • Proficiency in one or more of the following: Python, R, Bash, Javascript.

  • Demonstrated attention to detail and rigour across the full Software Development Life Cycle

Qualifications

Strengths:

  • Possess a basic understanding of agile development methodologies, specifically Scrum and Kanban.

  • Excellent interpersonal and communication skills and an ability to work effectively within teams.

  • Excellent written and verbal English skills.

  • Strong analytical skills and a demonstrable bias toward action.

Preferred qualifications:

  • BSc. or Master's degree in Computer Science or related technical field.
