Abbott Diagnostics Division (ADD) Longford

Abbott established the first diagnostics manufacturing facility in Sligo in 1994 to manufacture blood-screening products and reagents. In 2004, Abbott Diagnostics operations in Ireland expanded with the opening of a second facility in Longford. The plant was first occupied in December 2004. Manufacturing commenced in March of the following year and the first product (Architect TSH) was launched in December of 2005. The Longford facility plays a key role in helping Abbott to meet the increasing global demand for diagnostic testing in areas such as infectious disease, cancer, thyroid and cardiovascular diseases.

We currently have a vacancy for a Production Scheduler and this role will involve the following:

Primary Function

  • Cut Process Order (PO.) across all Manufacturing Areas in line with Production Schedule Requirements and provide support to Scheduling Co Ordinator

Major Responsibilities

  • Maintain ISOtrain TO DO LIST.

  • Conduct business in a manner that will protect human health, safety and the environment by complying with all applicable EHS laws, as well at the Abbott Global and Technical standards.

  • Cut Process Order’s in line with production schedule requirements across all work centres

  • Maintain Process Order’s in line with production requirements.

  • Ensure defined Process Order’s are cut and process times are achieved.

  • Maintain inventory control system accuracy.

  • Ensure effective management and utilization of the ERP system.

  • Drive for continuous improvement through all Processes you interact with.

  • Support and facilitate cross training across work centers and with Scheduling Coordinator

  • Support Longford Operations for product availability, for project execution and project improvements within manufacturing areas

  • Ensure external and internal customer focus.

  • Demonstrate strong Longford behaviours and a clear identifiable work ethos within the Supply Chain team..

  • Contribute to the development and delivery of the Supply Chain organisational vision and strategic objectives.

  • Ensure compliance to all Quality requirements.

Supervisory / Management Responsibility

  • Works independently or Individual Contributor.


  • Relevant third level qualification and/ or APICs or IIPMM qualification as this qualification provides a good foundation for this job function.

And / Or


  • Previous experience in a similar role in a manufacturing environment (preference regulated environment) as this provides a good foundation for this job function.
