Bristol-Myers Squibb is currently building a new state of the art large-scale biologics manufacturing facility in Cruiserath, Dublin 15. Once completed, the new facility will significantly increase BMS’ biologics manufacturing capacity and play a central role in its global manufacturing network.

Cruiserath Biologics is seeking a permanent Associate Director, Manufacturing, Science & Technology (MS&T) Downstream to direct the design, execution and interpretation of chromatographic, filtration, ultrafiltration/diafiltration experiments to support large scale biopharmaceutical cGMP commercial manufacturing.

Reporting to the MS&T Director, the Associate Director MS&T Downstream will direct all components of the Downstream group within Cruiserath MS&T. The successful candidate will lead a dynamic and highly technical team of engineers and scientists by setting appropriate objectives and priorities, overcoming obstacles; and timely delivering results.

Key responsibilities will include:

  • Accountability to optimize resources to design, execution and analysis of protein chromatography, viral inactivation, ultrafiltration/diafiltration, and filtration experiments and their interpretation.

  • Setting high standards to assure compliance with BMS Directives including safety, staff training, cGMPs and quality systems documentation.

  • Routinely liaising within the MS&T internal BMS network for technical and operational improvements, investigation resolution, process validation, and laboratory troubleshooting.

Qualifications:

The successful candidate must possess a science or engineering degree in the biotechnology, biochemical, chemical or related disciplines, along with experience in commercial biologics manufacturing PhD (>8yrs), MS (>10yrs), BS (>15yrs), documented by a solid history of technical accomplishments in the protein purification field. Experience in the design, modification and optimization of bioseparations with a strong practical knowledge of the technologies related to chromatography, filtration, ultrafiltration/diafiltration with clear awareness of current industry trends are essential.

Proven managerial skills in building high performing teams thorough effective resource planning and execution are essential, as well as highly effective leadership skills and capabilities are required for this position. In addition proven ability to work on complex problems in which analysis of situations or data requires an in-depth evaluation of multiple factors is essential.
