Arup Airport Systems Engineer in NA, Ireland

Work with a team of Airport Technology specialists for the design, planning and project management for the implementation of airport systems such as baggage handling systems, Security screening, VHTS and PBB’s. Contributing your unique skills to accomplish multiple project tasks, you will be able to work effectively both independently and within a multi-disciplined team of specialists.

Major Areas of Responsibility

  • Working with Project Delivery teams supporting the execution of projects from conception through handover.

  • Acting as Systems and Controls engineer in cooperation with a mechanical engineering team and project management in developing project plans and strategies.

  • Managing requirements, integration, and configuration changes throughout projects.

  • Engaging team members by delegation of work both on a long term and on a day-to-day basis.

  • Creatively solving problems to optimize resources, scheduling, and budget.

  • Coaching team members on project execution and proposing technical solutions for complex problems.

  • Overseeing system functionality and technical quality of automated applications.

  • Identifying and implementing improvement initiatives.

Basic Knowledge

  • Engineering and Technology — Knowledge of the practical application of engineering science and technology. This includes applying principles, techniques, procedures, and equipment to the design and production of systems and services.

  • Project Execution – Knowledge of project management life-cycle from requirements gathering through design and implementation.

  • Experience in the design and commissioning of baggage handling, warehouse sortation, conveyor and/or discrete control systems is an asset

  • Technical – Five (5) years of experience in industrial automation controls design and commissioning;

  • Experience with Airport Technology Systems (eg - baggage handling systems, Security screening, AOS, VHTS and PBB’s);

  • A sound understanding of architectural and engineering processes;

  • Understanding of complex electrical/mechanical systems;

  • Familiarisation with PLC Programming, SCADA Systems, IT Networks, Enterprise Architecture, Systems Integration, Data Centres and Virtualisation (including a working knowledge of relevant computer software tools);

  • Simulation development and Integrated testing;

  • Interfacing with real-time database applications to manage critical performance;

  • Creating and executing test cases;

  • Site commissioning and installation;

  • Scheduling and estimating experience.

Successful candidates must be able to complete all security clearance requirements that may be required for the performance of the work. Position will be based in Dublin however the successful candidate must be available to travel across region to where projects are located.
