At EY, we are expanding our Advisory practice and specifically building our Performance Improvement (PI) team. Due to this expansion we are seeking to recruit high achieving business consultants at Manager level for our Health team in particular. Individuals with other relevant experience of our other focus sectors (Transport, Utilities, Central Government and TMT) are also considered relevant.
Our Health Advisory team is a leader in the health consulting industry and is the largest health practice across the UK and Ireland. We work with providers, hospital groups, commissioners and policy makers to deliver extensive insight into policy and strategy development, and focus largely on implementation and service development and improvement.
Our core team has a wealth of hands-on experience and includes a number of ex-clinicians. This is reinforced by subject matter resources, and a range of supporting teams. Sustainability is at the core of our work. Through integrated working between our teams, clinicians and management, we work to embed our skills and deep subject matter knowledge into the client organisations with which we work.
Scope of the Role
The scope of the Manager’s role will vary depending on the assigned project and sector, and may involve working across a variety of client sites. Duties would include but not be limited to:
Stakeholder engagement e.g. facilitation of workshops and meetings
Problem solving and structured thinking
Team management, coaching and leadership
Research and analysis
Presentations to colleagues and client
The scope of this role is flexible, and t he above is not intended to be an exhaustive list of all duties involved. Consequently, successful candidates may be required to perform other duties and support the wider advisory team as required from time to time.
Qualifications and Experience
Candidates should have relevant professional experience in management consultancy or in Healthcare and/or Government & Public Sector.
Candidates must have a strong academic record including a third level qualification, preferably in a science/healthcare discipline or a business related field or equivalent.
Candidates must have the ability to quickly establish personal credibility, demonstrate expertise, and the ability to influence clients and a variety of stakeholders to gain support for key decisions.
Skills required for this Manager role:
Strong business consulting and/or healthcare industry experience is essential
You should be able to work consultatively on a strategic or operational level
You must have a proven track record of leading the delivery of projects with demonstrated high performance and outcomes
You must demonstrate strong communication / interpersonal skills, an ability to work with multiple stakeholders at all levels, and an ability to win and sustain client confidence
You should be able to work confidently with credibility, and an ability to influence at mid to senior levels
You should be able to analyse complex problems and to deliver insightful, practical and sustainable solutions
You should have project management experience including the ability to structure and manage projects or programmes of work which meet client expectations and mitigate any risks or issues
You should demonstrate an ability to facilitate collaboration among team members, and the capacity to motivate teams to maximise performance
You should demonstrate excellent planning, organisational and time management skills
You should display excellent analytical skills to enable analysis, data interpretation and extraction
You must be proficient in Microsoft Office (PowerPoint, Word, Excel)
In addition, experience in the following types of health sector experience in the acute, community and primary care settings would be advantageous:
Integrated Care Pathway development/planning/implementation
Integrated Business Plan development
Clinical Service Core Business Review
Clinical Operating Model development
Hospital function development
Performance optimisation in hospitals/healthcare organisations
Health care provider integration and collaboration
Social and health integration
Programme and change management
As there will be opportunities to work across our other focus sectors within the PI practice (Transport, Energy and Assets, Central Government), experience in these sectors would be an advantage.
Experience in one or more of the following competencies is also desirable:
Supply Chain & Operations, for example: Supply chain/service transformation, Operations performance transformation, Business Case development, Business Process Improvement
Programme Management, for example: Programme Execution Planning, Governance structures and programme approach, Programme schedule and risk register/management, Cost monitoring model, Stakeholder matrix and Communications Plan, Reviewing and testing/control procedures, Team development, Transformation projects (on time and to budget)
People and Organisational Change, for example: Change impact, Stakeholder management and risk mitigation planning, Benefits realisation tracking, Change initiatives e.g. communication documents/ workshops, Requirement definition and planning for new organisation roles and responsibilities
Structured problem solving, for example: Definition and discussion of complex business issues, Preparation of materials to communicate issues/solutions/implications, Implementation of appropriate problem-solving tools and techniques
Finance, for example: Finance process transformation, Enterprise cost effectiveness, Finance process efficiency
