Transaction Advisory Services - Financial Services – Executive

Who are we?

EY is a global leader in Assurance, Tax, Transaction and Advisory services. We make a difference by helping our people, our clients and our wider communities achieve their potential. Our vision is to become the leading global professional services organisation by building a better working world.

At EY our inclusive work environment means that everyone’s opinion is valued. This enables us to provide better advice and ideas to our clients, which in turn helps you develop as an individual to achieve your potential and make a difference.

Who are Transaction Advisory Services?

The integration of our Europe, Middle East, India and Africa (EMEIA) practices means that the FSO TAS team now comprises almost nearly 500 dedicated financial services transaction professionals, in London, Paris, Frankfurt, Brussels, Dublin, Amsterdam, Milan, Madrid and Zurich. Our Ireland FSO TAS practice is an integral part of our EMEIA FSO TAS team, and as a result of significant market activity in the Financial Services sector (driven partly by the resolution of the global financial crisis overhang, heightened regulatory dynamics, prolonged low interest environment and impact of technology disruptions) the team continues to grow across all of our services.

As part of this wider team, the recently established Financial Services Transaction Support (FSO TS) team in Ireland is experiencing rapid growth. We offer the real opportunities to work on global and high profile engagements as part of a market leading team, combined with significant development opportunities to step up and take early responsibility. Our projects are typically complex, integrated assignments that frequently involve working with colleagues across a variety of disciplines, as well as other professional advisers. Our clients include leading global companies across the Banking & Capital Markets, Insurance, and Asset Management industries as well as private equity, central banks and Government treasury departments.

Our projects involve a blend of domestic and international engagements, and the integration of our EMEIA practice has made longer-term mobility a genuinely accessible option for those who wish to develop their career internationally.

What will I be doing?

Typical activities will include the following:

  • Our FS Transaction Support team aims to assist clients throughout the entire transaction process, and works closely with other specialists both within TAS and other Service Lines. Whilst traditional financial due diligence is a key element of our work, transaction support is much broader, incorporating assistance with strategic assessment, transaction management, negotiation and documentation, and post-completion processes.

  • Typically, you'll analyse the financial and operational results of companies targeted for sale by reviewing financial information and participating in interviews with management.

  • You'll work effectively as a team member by demonstrating your commitment to quality, sharing responsibility, providing support, maintaining communication and updating senior team members on progress.

  • You'll also help to create a positive learning culture for more junior team members and support their development. And as part of your role in the wider team, you’ll have a role to play in other team initiatives – for example, account management and recruitment.

  • Based on understanding the key business drivers, prepare analyses of historical and pro forma financial information to assess trends and fluctuations that may impact funding requirements and deal valuation

  • Perform industry and company research utilising online tools and publicly available information

  • Assist in researching technical accounting issues to evaluate implications on transaction valuation and structuring

  • Prepare client deliverables including excel databook analysis, reports, presentations and discussion packs
