Microsoft Cloud Infrastructure & Operations (MCIO) is the team behind the Microsoft cloud. MCIO is responsible for delivering and managing the physical infrastructure that supports over 200 Microsoft online services around the world. Our scope includes hardware deployment and maintenance, critical environment services, security and compliance, incident management, and partner/vendor management. The Data Centre Critical Environment Program Manager (CEPM) will oversee the operational partners tasked with on boarding engineering and facility support services at our new Data Centres across the EMEA Region.

Responsibilities

The CEPM will report to the Regional Mobilization Manager and will be responsible for the following functions:

• Review of CE operational processes and procedures at partner Data Centres in new countries across the EMEA region

• Review partner maintenance schedules and activities to limit impact to Microsoft Cloud services

• Ensure the operations teams adhere to all security protocols and policies and maintain a high level of compliance in a high security environment.

• Ensure partners are fully aware of and ready to maintain environmental conditions to contractually agreed SLAs.

• Review partners engineering escalation and incident management processes to ensure alignment to Microsoft internal processes

• The CEPM will focus on setting up our Data Centre partner teams for success and ensuring their engineering maintenance systems and delivery are best in class to support availability of the Microsoft Cloud

• The CEPM will be part of the wider mobilization team and will be expected to contribute to regional and global improvement programs as required.

The Critical Environment Program Manager role is a key role in a rapidly growing market. In order to deliver on the responsibilities set out above, we expect candidates to demonstrate the following skills, qualifications, and competencies.

Qualifications

• Proven track record in operating in fast paced, high availability production environments. Previous data centre operations experience is a requirement.

• Deep technical understanding and operational experience of redundant electrical and cooling systems.

Prior experience of engineering systems including MV/LV switchgear, back-up generator systems, EPMS/BAS control and monitoring, large HVAC plant, and fire protection systems is a must.

• Excellent customer service, interpersonal awareness, and communication skills are critical. These are particularly relevant given the multiple partners and service support vendors engaged in the successful operation of the Microsoft cloud.

• The ability to operate as a member of a larger regional/global team while fostering a culture of teamwork for his/her respective local team.

• Proven track record of both internal and external vendor/partner management in maintenance/support based contracts.

• Strong working knowledge and understanding of IT infrastructure such as servers, storage, and network infrastructure.

• Strong experience with Health and Safety Risk Assessments and Control Measures

• Fluent English (written and spoken) is essential to this role.

• Strong written, verbal, and interpersonal communication skills. Ability to coordinate and host conference calls and escalation bridges with internal customers and senior management

• Proficiency with MS Office Applications

• The role will involve extensive travel, potentially up to 50% of the time #Certifications and Accreditations • BS/BA/BE in Electrical/Mechanical/Industrial Engineering

• Recognized Data Centre Certificates (e.g. CDCMP/CDCDP)

Industry Experience

• 5+ Years engineering experience in a production, mission-critical, revenue-dependent, 24x7 Data Centre environment.

• MV/LV switching procedures and processes
