Consultant, Platform Services (MVS Storage Administrator)


The primary technologies currently employed at Mastercard include Brocade switch infrastructure, EMC and IBM mainframe storage arrays, Tivoli Storage Manager.

The selected individual will perform engineering decisions for Mastercard€™s evolution of storage solutions including collaborating closely with cross-functional teams, building and supporting internal mainframe storage technologies and environments

This individual will be one of our primary engineers in all technical aspects of mainframe storage and switch infrastructure.

Design, develop, support and maintain mainframe storage environment(s) and associated software products including IBM GDPS and Metro Global Mirror

Actively participate in planning the direction and implementation of data processing software and hardware as they relate primarily to mainframe storage and systems software.

Complete status reports, implementations, troubleshooting and maintain project plans as required.

Provide technical assistance to development programmers and customers to facilitate independent utilization of new and existing software.

Keep informed of the latest developments in mainframe software and hardware technology as a basis for evaluations and recommendations that support the business requirements.

Accurately document duties and procedures to aid the department in cross-training and absentee coverage.

Support business disaster recovery procedures for assigned areas of responsibility.

Coordinate appropriate training to data center staff.

All About You

Expertise in MVS systems administration.

Solid knowledge of zOS operating systems, infrastructure software, communications, computer hardware and peripherals.

Strong command of mainframe storage utilities, including: System Managed Storage (SMS), DFSMShsm, DFSMSrmm, Job Control Language (JCL), IEBGENER, ICKDSF, IDCAMS, IEHPROGM.

Strong inter-personal and communication skills, capable of writing proposals, acting as a vendor liaison, work closely with management.

Ability to solve problems quickly and completely.

Ability to identify tasks which should be automated and then write the necessary scripts.

Solid understanding of the mainframe storage environment and can perform system analysis and tuning.

Ability to adhere to a standard work schedule as defined by department, plus on-call rotation and after hours support and implementation as needed.
