Job Background/Context

The Securities Lending section consists of 35 team-orientated people reporting directly to the VP of Securities Finance. The section is divided into five core teams - Trade Support, Collateral Management, Asset Servicing, Settlements and Lender On-Boarding.

The role requires daily interaction with Borrowers, the trading desk, Trade Support, Clients, Settlements and the Relationship Management and Sales teams in Dublin, London, Melbourne, Hong Kong and New York. The Corporate Action team are responsible for managing client elections for the lent portion of their shares for both Mandatory and Voluntary events.

This position gives the successful candidate an excellent opportunity to develop their client communication skills and enhance their knowledge of operational processes across Citigroup globally. They will also have the chance to build a network of contacts both within Citigroup and externally.

Job Purpose:

To manage the daily activities of the team including: Set individual performance plans for members of the team. Create and monitor appropriate metrics for the area. Ensure overall operating efficiency for the team. Serve as the primary first point of escalation for staff members and internal and external clients. Network/navigate within the organization in order to troubleshoot escalated issues and bring appropriate closure. Identify any opportunity for, implementation process improvements, service enhancements, or technology enhancements. Train staff on new procedures or technology enhancements. Serve as the “technical expert”, provide technical guidance to resolve problems. Create, develop and maintain business relationships. Identify control deficiencies and implement appropriate procedures. Identify opportunities to reduce expense.

Possess an advanced knowledge of related products. Provide feedback on project related activities. Provide guidance and support to junior staff. Execute complex transactions. Demonstrate ability to coordinate staff assignments to achieve optimal effectiveness and efficiency, through assessment of business requirements and staff skill sets and development needs. Demonstrate communication, teamwork and leadership skills. Proactively manages responses to requests and deliverables with internal and external clients and vendors. Participates in adhoc projects as defined

Key Responsibilities:

•Day to day management of the Corporate actions lending team

•Escalate processing errors and potential risks to line manager upon discovery.

•Acting as an intermediary and escalation point between processing staff and Department Manager.

•Focusing on versatility, performance and development of processing staff within the team.

•Complete Appraisal reviews and interviews with team members, including goals and development planning.

•Partake in interview selection process for new recruits to the team.

•Collate stats and attend weekly meeting with Department Manager to discuss previous week highlights, and forward planning for team.

•Ensuring all Controls and Procedures are adhered to.

•Identifying areas of risk and implementing further Controls where necessary.

•Acting as an example to other team members, creating an ethical and motivated team environment.

•Verification of teams work, and release of instructions to the Market/Borrowers.

•Execute sale instructions in Bloomberg or with local Agent.

•Monitoring individual and team Overtime and redistributing workloads where relevant.

•Prepare and complete User Acceptance Testing on enhancements to systems and also regression testing.

•Prepare relevant test scripts and participate in Contingency testing.

•Assist in and lead adhoc projects on behalf of the team.

•Analyse market changes and implement into current process where required

•Review and provide feedback on Service Level Agreement applicable to the team

•Coordinate testing and review Manager’s Control Assessment, Flow Charts and Procedures for the team.

•Collate highlights for seniors on all Developments.

•Leader in Team Projects, and providing updates to the Ops Group Manager

•Represent section in client facing meetings

•Attend client / markets conference call when required.

•Complete a Causal Code analysis and implement the required CAP. Ensure CAP is communicated across the Department

•Liaise with Securities Finance Trading Desk on problem issues and new processes

•Conduct client RFP reviews with Securities Finance Product and assist with new client on-boarding

•Work with Securities Finance Product on new product development.

•Strong technical understanding of Corporate Actions and the Lending Program.

•Extensive years Previous People management experience preferably within an operations environment

•Previous Project Management Experience.


•Exposure to Pirum, Equilend and SLS.

•Experience within a Custody and Lending Operation, including leading relevant teams in both products.

•Exposure to European markets for Corporate Action processing at both Custody and Lending product level


•Hold a 3rd level degree in Business or other relevant discipline

•IOC Qualifications are preferred
