The Product Release and Security Services (PRSS) engineering team is responsible for CodeSign, Anti-Malware scan, Software License Keys (SLK), Public Key Infrastructure (PKI), Secure Release and other secure services. Our unique engineering challenge is scale (billions of files processed per month), diversity of workloads (from drivers to 4k AAA games), and security (physical and logical) required to meet Microsoft business needs. PRSS services ensure software integrity of software products and services Microsoft produces, hosts, distributes, and sells. We have an exciting opportunity for a Service Engineer who is passionate about production reliability, performance and design. We are looking for a Service Engineer who is ready to be a part of a team that moves fast, leverages continuous delivery practices, and is focused continuously on improving the customer experience.


• Support critical production environments from an availability and performance perspective

• Analyze infrastructure, middleware and application telemetry/system data and trends in order to fine tune or create pro-active and effective monitors and predict future system behaviors

• Automate manual and repetitive operations via scripting language and system self-recovery functionality

• Troubleshoot and mitigate system performance and availability problems and perform root cause analysis

• Collaborate and partner with service and software engineering team members for improving system core characteristics and design

• Analyzing product code in order to identify potential areas for improvement and understand deep application details

• Deploying, configuring and supporting large scale on premise cloud solutions based on Service fabric and microservices

• Playing a key role in the Change management, Incident and Problem management processes

• Working in a team of seasoned service reliability engineers from different geographical regions and time zones

• Leading and representing the service in backlog discussions and standups to establish the appropriate prioritization of non-functional requirements


Demonstrated experience in design, configuration, deployment, support and optimization of large scale cloud computing environments that host mission critical solutions with extremely high availability SLAs

• Demonstrated experience in configuration, deployment and support of loosely coupled web/micro services

• Experience with any of the following technologies: o



o C#/Java

o Powershell/Bash/Python

o OS support/administration: Windows Server/Unix

o Middleware support/administration: Azure Service fabric, AWS or alternative web/micro services platform;

• Excellent problem-solving skills and passion to solve challenging problems as part of team

• Experience in automation and optimization of manual operations, specifically related to distributed deployments and system recovery

• Bachelor's Degree in Computer Science, Mathematics, or related sciences - or equivalent work experience

Preferred qualifications:

• Experience analyzing real-time and trending service behavior through telemetry for understanding infrastructure/system/application throughput, limitations and constraints etc.

• Ability to read, write, configure code, and design for end-to-end service telemetry, alerting and self-healing capabilities on point solutions

• Master's Degree in Computer Science, Mathematics, or related sciences

• Previous professional development experience

• Experience in Infrastructure and Configuration as code as well as service auto-scale capabilities

• Experience in production support of message-oriented middleware applications

• RDBMS experience (e.g. MySQL/SQL Server/SQL Azure/NOSQL/Oracle RDBMS/Postgres)
