We are looking for a hands-on UX Designer with a passion for innovation, creativity, quality, and bringing new capabilities to market that delight and inspire users.


Work in a multidisciplinary team using agile approaches

Produce user requirements specifications, conceptual models, personas, storyboards/scenarios, flow charts, conceptual sketches, wireframes, IAs, design prototypes, and design specifications.

Create digital assets that effectively communicate product function and intent, user interaction, and screen hierarchy.

Work with visual designers, design researchers, developers and architects to ensure UX designs enhances the overall user experience

Work with design team to lobby for and plan validation activities to ensure a delightful user experience

Effectively communicate research findings, conceptual ideas, detailed designs, and design rationale both verbally and visually to stakeholders and team members

Ensure design consistency with IBM's development standards, best-practices and guidelines

Work with and communicate across the wider development team and management

Key Skills:

Demonstrated application of user interface design principles and the user-centered design process, including user research techniques, both in creating designs and discussing design decisions with the product team

Demonstrated ability to produce quick, low-fidelity sketches on tight schedules that utilize design heuristics and usability standards

Demonstrated ability to synthesize real user feedback into designs

Demonstrated experience with Sketch, Invision, Adobe Creative Cloud, Balsamiq and/or other design tools

Working knowledge of how compositions translate to HTML, JavaScript and Cascading Style Sheets (CSS) used to deliver feasible designs

Demonstrated written and verbal communication skills, including techniques to persuade and negotiate and the ability to articulate alternative approaches

Demonstrated storytelling and presentation skills

Creative, outside-the-box thinking; quality is a must!


Bachelors degree any of the following: HCI, Interaction Design, Industrial Design, UX Design, and/or related fields

Portfolio/work samples at any fidelity including:

Information radiators such as personas, mental models, diagrams, etc.

Visualizations of complex user experiences: flows, scenarios, etc.

Early sketches to low-fidelity interactions (show your process)

At least 1 year of experience designing software applications for a global audience

At least 1 year of experience in Agile, Scrum and Lean

Strong knowledge of interaction design processes and methodology, particularly as applied to desktop & mobile products

Thrive in a fast paced work environment that requires independent self-direction with an aptitude for team collaboration and open communication

Proactive and takes ownership for producing positive results

Contributes as a valued team member and colleague with leaders at all levels

Demonstrates personal self-awareness and desire for continual learning and personal development

Readiness to travel 10% travel annually
