Aon Insurance Managers (Dublin) Limited (“AIMD”) is a division of Aon Global Risk Consulting (AGRC)/Aon Captive & Insurance Management (ACIM), and specialises in alternative risk transfer, risk finance and the formation & management of captive insurance companies. AIMD is the local market leader in its business sector, employing 59 staff and providing management services to 50 client companies, the majority of which are captive (re)insurance companies insuring risks of their parent companies. We also manage a number of Commercial Insurance Companies, Pure Reinsurance Companies, and Finance Vehicles.

Position Responsibilities

The Insurance Manager is responsible for the operational management of a portfolio of clients ensuring that all clients’ insurance activities are performed efficiently, effectively and accurately and that all deadlines are met.

The Insurance Manager is also responsible for the maintenance of proper liaison between the Insurance Practice Group, other practice groups (Finance, Compliance, etc) and third party service providers (auditors, actuaries etc) for this portfolio.

He/She will also be asked to participate in one or more projects aimed at business development, enhancing client service and/or increasing operational efficiency.

Main Functions


  • ** Be responsible for the operational management of all the Insurance related functions on a number of allocated client accounts, ensuring that all client insurance activities are performed efficiently, effectively and accurately and that deadlines are met. Attend and present at client Board meetings.

  • Act as Account Officer (primary client contact) as required and in accordance with the role and objectives of Account Officer.

  • Assist in various operational management issues in relation to the insurance practice group.

  • Be actively involved in projects relating to innovation, revenue generation or consulting opportunities

  • Supervise the Insurance Executives and Analysts working on those accounts and ensure they are aware of their responsibilities and level of authority

  • Ensure premium, claim and other information necessary for the accounts are provided to the finance practice group accurately and on time.

  • Ensure client companies are operating within the business plan approved by the Central Bank

  • Agree procedures and service standards with the client and ensure these are followed and met

Position Requirements


  • **A minimum of 2 years captive, or other relevant, experience as well as other insurance experience.

  • Technical knowledge

  • Third Level Qualification or significant progress in ACII is an essential requirement

  • Excellent communication skills

  • Strong financial and analytical skills

  • Client focused

  • Ability to translate strategy to operational plans

  • Proven experience in management of staff is essential

  • Other EU languages an advantage

  • Good Knowledge of Irish & EU regulation including Solvency II
