What will I be doing?

The Business Development Director (BDD) will be dedicated to fostering and developing a pursuits, relationship development and targeting culture with EY Ireland. The BDD is expected to consistently inspire others through action in the marketplace.

Opportunity management

•Managing the most strategic and largest opportunities EY handles across our client portfolio – leveraging and coaching others on best practice

•Through strong client relationships, this person will originate and qualify opportunities, leveraging the extensive EY offering across service lines

Client relationship development

•The Business Development Director will foster strong business partner relationships with a spectrum of leaders across the entire business, identifying and addressing any relationship gaps

•Developing more junior team members to complement this relationship management is also important

Your primary responsibilities will include:

•Develop and manage executive level/ C-suite client relationships to drive business‐winning opportunities across the Focus Account, Growth Platform & Sector spectrum in support of growth objectives

•Drive innovation to ensure provision of market leading, relevant and highly-targeted solutions to clients

•Devise and execute relevant account strategies and ensure rigorous review and challenge of all plans

•Develop broad and deep client relationships which in many cases will be led or owned by the BDD

•Engage with teams in the field to support them on their most important strategic pursuits

•Lead and execute enhanced targeting of new client opportunities across all service lines

•Make a sustained contribution to the continued enhancement of the EY Business Development function

•A high degree of perception, with the ability to read people and an ability to communicate a message effectively

•Ability to quickly understand complex products and broad service offerings

•An opportunistic mindset and ability to quickly promote realisation of opportunities in the relevant market sector

•Ability to work autonomously and strategically

•Highly developed influencing skills to gain access to the breadth of the client organisation, and influence internally in EY in support of business development objectives and meeting clients’ needs

•A cerebral, focused and consultative approach to business development activity.

Qualifications and Experience

•Demonstrable track record selling complex projects or services aligned to client issues or growth agendas

•Ability to devise and position propositions to a client – articulating and capturing value

•Solid B2B selling experience and capability, involving management of multiple stakeholders, often within a long sales cycle

•Experience of a team‐based model of business development, working with specialists to co-develop client needs and consistently deliver results

•Significant track record of successfully owning, driving development of, and managing complex customer relationships and accounts

•Strong understanding of key industry drivers and how these impact on client accounts

•Ability to deal with complex organisations in order to navigate and influence across a partnership structure; experience of a partnership culture / consulting environment would be beneficial

•Ability to manage multiple stakeholders both across EY’s leadership and in client organisations

•Experience growing and coaching teams in a business development environment

•Educated to degree level; advanced degree would be beneficial
